Hononegah’s Charlie Hunt wins IHSA state bowling championship

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — Charlie Hunt further cemented his status as one of the all-time great high school bowlers to come out of the 815. Saturday, the Hononegah senior won the IHSA State individual championship at the St. Clari Bowl in O’Fallon, Illinois near St. Louis.

Hunt averaged 230.6 during the tournament. He rallied from 18 pins behind going into the final game to win. Last summer, Hunt won the boys’ high school bowling national championship competing at Nationals near Dayton, Ohio. He has committed to Rock Valley College.

Hononegah as a team finished in ninth place at State. Harlem finished in seventh place led by Andrew Bell who was 33rd individually. Dakota finished tenth in the team standings and Dixon finished 11.
