Illinois concealed carry holder gets into shootout with suspect in attempted robbery

CHICAGO (WTVO) — A Illinois man with a conceal carry license was almost robbed and got into a shootout with a suspect in the Edgewater neighborhood Tuesday morning.

The 23-year-old man was walking in the 5400 block of North Winthrop around 4:20 a.m. when the attempted robber got out of his sedan and demanded the man’s belongings at gunpoint, Chicago Police told CBS .

The victim, who has a Firearm Owners Identification card and CCL, pulled out his gun and there was a shootout police told WLS .

The man was not harmed and the suspect escaped empty-handed, according to police. it is unknown if the suspect was injured.

Area Three detectives are still investigating the case and there is currently no one in custody.
