Here’s where should place your I-PASS sticker, according to the Illinois Tollway

BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO) — The Illinois Tollway has begun distributing window stickers to replace I-PASS transponders.

The stickers were made available starting last week, at customer service centers including the Belvidere Oasis, at 2510 Pearl Street, and will become available this month at Jewel-Osco stores, Road Ranger gas stations, and on the I-PASS website .

Authorities say the stickers are smaller, less expensive than the boxes drivers have been using for years, and do not expire, unlike the transponders.

The stickers use radio frequency identification to communicate with the tolls, eliminating the need for batteries.

“I-PASS Sticker Tags are required to be mounted to a vehicle’s windshield near the rearview mirror, and like license plate or city stickers, they are not designed to be moved between vehicles. There is no battery, and they last until removed from the vehicle,” the Tollway said in a statement.

There is no deposit fee for I-PASS Sticker Tags. For customers with current transponders, the $10 transponder deposit will be transferred into their pre-paid toll accounts once a new I-PASS Sticker Tag is registered to the account.
