ILLINOIS. (WIFR) – The Illinois Tollway transitions from traditional transponders to sticker tags. The Tollway shares that the switch to stickers will be more efficient and cost-effective for all parties involved. Drivers with a current working transponder do not have to switch to the new stickers but are encouraged to do so upon reaching its expiration date. Driver Timothy Jensen waited 45 minutes in line at the Belvidere Oasis to trade in his current transponder. Unfortunately, he was unable to fulfill this task due to the unique nature of his car.
