Janesville woman robbed while walking her dog; police chase, arrest suspects

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WTVO) — Janesville Police say Ishmail Gill, 17, and an unidentified 15-year-old boy were arrested on charges of robbing a woman walking her dog at gunpoint on Tuesday.

According to police, around 10:30 a.m. officers met with the victim in the 3800 block of Creekside Drive. She told police that two males, armed with handguns, stole her property. The victim was not harmed in the incident and was able to provide authorities with the license plate of the offender’s car, police said.

Officials were able to determine that the car had been reported stolen the day before.

At 1:37 p.m., officers spotted the vehicle near Wright Road and Stuart Street and tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver sped away.

Police said officers used a “pursuit intervention technique” to stop the vehicle on USH 14, north of Rutger Avenue and were able to take both suspects into custody.

Authorities say evidence from the robbery was located in the vehicle.

Gill was charged with armed robbery, operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, and possession of a stolen firearm.
