Rockford schools ditch e-learning days for remainder of school year

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Citing problems with the program, Rockford Public Schools have announced that they won’t use e-learning days for the remainder of the school year.

In a statement on Tuesday, the school district said it would use emergency days instead of e-learning in the event of cancelations.

Superintendent Dr. Ehren Jarrett said the decision was based on problems getting Chromebooks to students and ensuring each has reliable access to a wireless network.

The district said it has created an E-Learning Task Force to solve those problems, but for now, Rockford schools will consider other approaches, such as flexible days and adjustments to the calendar year.

“We’re not saying ‘no’ to e-learning, we just want to get it right,” Jarrett said.
