POPLAR GROVE, Ill. (WTVO) — Two men from Poplar Grove have been charged with making homemade explosives and drugs.
In December 2023, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, ATF, Illinois State Police, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team, and Belvidere/Boone County SWAT Team searched a house in the 200 block of Thornhill Drive.
Police said they found homemade explosives, firearms, ammunition, cannabis, narcotics, and electronics.
Anthony Pizzuto, 31, and Anthony Krieger, 32, both turned themselves into the Boone County Jail. They were charged Friday.
Pizzuto was charged with seven counts of unlawful use of weapons, two counts of unlawful possession with intent to deliver cannabis, unlawful production of cannabis sativa plants and unlawful possession of serialization of unfinished receiver.
Krieger was charged with eight counts of unlawful use of weapons, five counts of possession of firearms without a FOID card, unlawful possession with intent to deliver cannabis sativa plants and unlawful possession of cannabis.
