Byron man injured in collision with semi truck

OGLE COUNTY, Ill. (WTVO) — A 22-year-old man from Byron was injured in a crash Thursday when authorities said he failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit by a semi-trailer.

According to the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, rescue personnel were called to the intersection of Freeport Road and Illinois Route 64 around 9:49 a.m.

Police said Timothy Adams was driving a 2021 Ford Box truck when he went through the intersection and collided with a 2008 Peterbilt.

Adams was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

He was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid and accident and disobeying a stop sign.

The driver of the Peterbilt, a 45-year-old man from South Dakota, was not injured, police said.
