Harlem girls claim Sectional bowling championship; advance to State

SYCAMORE, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — The Harlem and Hononegah girls’ bowling teams will compete at the IHSA State Tournament next weekend at the Cherry Bowl. Harlem won the Sycamore Sectional Saturday while Hononegah finished in third place.

Guilford just missed advancing to State as a team by finishing in fifth place. The top four teams advance.

Not only did Harlem win the team championship, but Harlem sophomore Ashlin Teves was the overall individual champion. She had a pin total of 1476 for six games for a 246 average.

Two more Harlem sophomores were next on the team, Alexi Born with a 1392 pin total and Allison Roberts with a 1296 total. Roberts won the Regional championship last week. Harlem’s other top bowers were Miranda Klenz and Hannah Herdklotz. They’re both seniors.

Hononegah was led by Senior Caddidy Davenport with a 1314 pin total for a 219 average. Junior Kailyn Davis was next with a 1254 total and junior Emilee Mullranin was close behind with a 1215 total.

While Guilford didn’t qualify for State as a team, two Guilford bowlers are advancing as individuals. Junior Aleix Aumann after posting a 1296 totla and Sophomore Sarah Leggo who had a 1258 pin total.
