In the 608: Abraham Lincoln’s historic visit to Rock County

JANESVILLE, Wis. – Monday, February 12th is Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. The 16th President of the United States has some history here in Wisconsin.

The Rock County Historical Society is a resource for historical research, thought-provoking programming, and one-of-a-kind historic sites. Operating as a historic house museum since 1951, the Lincoln-Tallman House has evolved into a site that can offer a traditional museum experience while providing its spaces for everyday use by the community.

Abraham Lincoln visited in October of 1859 prior to his election in 1860. The Lincoln-Tallman House contains more than 75% original furnishings and depicts upper class life during the mid to late 1800s.
