Three people shot in Rockford over the weekend

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — One man was shot in the face, another in the leg, and a third was shot three times while coming out of a Shell gas station, police said.

According to Rockford Police, on Friday at 8:25 p.m., a 23-year-old man who was shot in the face and shoulder/chest area was being taken to the hospital by a friend. Police pulled the car over in the area of Whitman and Winnebago Streets and summoned an ambulance for the shooting victim. Police said they could not determine where the shooting actually happened, as witnesses gave conflicting accounts of what occurred.

At 4:54 a.m. Sunday morning, police said a man was shot while he was getting into a car in the parking lot of the Shell gas station, at 430 Harrison Avenue. Authorities said the 24-year-old victim was shot in the leg and twice in the upper chest. Police said the man was expected to survive.

On Sunday, around 12:35 p.m., a 24-year-old man arrived at a Rockford hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg. Police said the victim told officers he was shot while he was walking near Lincoln and Island Avenues.
