2 candidates in running to replace retiring Byron Police Chief

BYRON, Ill. (WTVO) — Byron Police Chief Todd Murray is stepping down after more than 20 years as the town’s top cop, and two finalists are in line to replace him.

Next Wednesday, the Byron community will get a chance to meet the two candidates at a forum at Byron City Hall, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Sgt. Jeremy Boehle, of the Byron Police Department, and Deputy Chief Jeffrey Wig, of the Sycamore Police Department, will each talk about their vision for the police department.

Residents can give feedback which the City says will be considered when making the final selection.

Murray is retiring with 39 years in law enforcement. His replacement is expected to be selected in March.
