Rockford escapee taken into custody after attempted burglary

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Police took Ryan Olsen, 45, into custody for attempting to burglarize a local gas station early Tuesday morning.

At 12:49 a.m. Olsen was arrested with multiple burglary tools at the scene, in the 1900 block of 11th Street, according to police.

Olsen also has charges of burglary dating back to January 26th, 2023, and December 2nd, 2023. Authorities furloughed Olsen to Rosecrance on February 5th, according to court documents.

Police said Olsen escaped Rosecrance on February 6th and subsequently had a warrant out for his arrest.

Olsen has been charged with felony failure to return from furlough and possession of burglary tools.
