Illinois car salesman found dead in Chicago after test drive, shop owner says

ROCKFORD, Ill. ( WTVO ) — A car salesman in Rockford, Illinois, was found shot to death in Chicago, a day after his boss said he took two people on a test drive and never came back.

Crisoforo Osorio-Gonzalez, 36, was found dead on February 10. He had worked at 21st Auto Sales in Rockford for nearly two years.

According to the business owner, Gonzalez took two customers on a test drive Friday before going missing. The business owner, who declined to be identified, said police later discovered the car in Chicago.

The Cook County coroner said Gonzalez had been shot in the back of his head and the back. No arrests have been announced.

Gonzalez was the manager of the shop and a long-time friend of the owner. He was born in Mexico, but had been living in Rockford for more than two decades, specializing as a mechanic.

“He was a caring person about people. You know, he sells cars. It doesn’t matter if he likes dealing. He always was happy, a happy person, treated customers like he knew them for like 20 or 25 years,” said the owner.
