Police: Rockford man hits woman over the head with table, breaks out her windows

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Michael Lewis, 46, for allegedly hitting a woman over the head with a glass table and breaking out windows of her house.

On March 16th around 10:29 p.m., police responded to the 900 block of Acorn Street to a domestic battery complaint. The woman told officials that she had been hit over the head with a glass table.

Another resident came forward and told police that he heard the suspect yelling at the victim about money from the other room. He said that Lewis struck her over the head and then used the base of the table to hit her several more times, according to court documents.

The witness told authorities that the suspect broke out six total windows, took the TV and left the scene.

The victim, now at the hospital, told authorities that Lewis came over asking her for $100 he believed she owed him for drugs. The woman refuted the claim.

The woman said that he also grabbed a knife, held it very close to her and threatened her life.
