Two men charged after police find loaded handguns during traffic stop

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Officers with Rockford Police’s SCOPE team arrested two men Friday and recovered two loaded handguns and an extended ammunition magazine.

According to the police department, officers with the Specialized Community Oriented Police Enforcement team conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of S. Main Street around 8:35 p.m. on Friday.

Both occupants, Tamarion Smith, 18, of Poplar Grove, and Sincere Harris, 20, of Loves Park, were arrested and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and no valid Firearm Owner’s Identification.

Both Smith and Harris were booked into the Winnebago County Jail and later released under provisions of the Illinois Pretrial Fairness Act.
