ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) – Pizza is popular food in Rockford, and convenience stores have figured that out with their own signature pies some local residents can’t seem to get enough of.
“These pizzas are so good,” Rockford resident Karl Brooks said Wednesday after buying a personal Noble Roman’s pizza at Kelley’s Market. “You’ve got to taste it, man.”
Brooks says convenience store pizza is now on par with some of the best-known brands.
“You know, I like this better than I do Little Caesars,” he said. “I mean, I like Little Ceasers, Pizza Hut, but this is a good pizza.”
Customers say although it may be difficult to determine which convenience store has the best pizza, they all have their favorites.
“Lunchtime here—the supreme [pizza] with all the veggies on it,” said Melissa McDonald, who likes to grab a Roman Nobles pie for lunch from the downtown Kelley’s Market because it’s near her office.
She also has another go-to.
“Casey’s for breakfast,” she said, referring to the popular breakfast pizza from Casey’s Kitchen, which are inside area Casey’s convenience stores.
