Bedroom fire in Rockford house causes $100K in damages

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A house fire in Rockford Tuesday night caused $100,000 worth of damages, but the residents were able to escape unharmed.

According to the Rockford Fire Department, firefighters were called to the 2900 block of Lawndale Avenue around 9:19 p.m. and found the house showing heavy smoke and fire coming from a rear bedroom window.

It took 13 minutes for the crew to bring the fire under control.

Investigators have not yet determined a cause.

The Red Cross is assisting the occupants with housing.
