Rockford wants YOU to create logos for your neighborhood

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The City of Rockford is offering up to $7,500 for residents to create signage to help create “a sense of identity and pride” in Rockford neighborhoods.

The Residential Neighborhood Sign Program utilizes $100,000 in grant funds for the opportunity, which hopes to create “beautiful, inviting entrances that thoughtfully reflect the diversity and culture of their residents.”

The signs will be placed at major principal entrances to neighborhoods and will be lit externally (although the grant funds will not pay for electrical installation.)

The signs cannot exceed 25 feet wide and 6 feet wide, and cannot contain internal or neon lighting.

Pre-application opens at noon on Friday, October 4th.

Interested applicants who need assistance can attend a virtual workshop on Thursday, October 10th at noon.

The City said applications will be approved on a rolling basis until funds are depleted.
