Oregon rapist sentenced to 180 years in prison

OREGON, Ill. (WTVO) — James Clevenger III, 61, has been sentenced to 180 years in prison for sexual assault of a minor.

Clevenger, a resident of Oregon, was the subject of an investigation that began in June 2021 after a minor girl filed a domestic battery complaint with police.

During the investigation, authorities discovered Clevenger had sexually assaulted the girl, and charges were authorized against him.

Ogle County State’s Attorney Mike Rock said Clevenger’s criminal record qualified him for a special sentencing range of 30-60 years for each of the six counts against him. Judge John Roe sentenced him to 30 years for each count, to be served consecutively.
