Rockford man accused of strangling a woman with a T-shirt, punching her in the head

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested D’Shaun Lomax, 35, for allegedly strangling a woman and not letting her leave the residence for five days.

On September 17, officers met with the woman at the District One Police Station to talk about a domestic battery complaint. The victim told authorities the two started to argue when Lomax slapped her six times before she fell to the floor.

Lomax allegedly sat on her back for around an hour and struck her face, neck and head when she moved.

The suspect proceeded to strangle her with a T-shirt before “stomping” his foot to the back of her head and neck, according to court records. Lomax is also accused of threatening her life with a butcher knife.

The woman told officials she was not allowed to leave the apartment for five days until Lomax had to attend a mandatory class that is a part of his parole.

The suspect was found in the 1300 block of East State Street and was taken into custody.

He has previously been convicted of domestic battery in Winnebago County in 2013 and 2015.
