Rockford man accused of strangling a woman, threatening to ‘kill her’

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Leonard Hill Jr., 34, for allegedly strangling a woman in her home.

On September 25, around 3:38 p.m., police responded to the 400 block of Alliance Avenue after a child called and said “Heavy” was attempting to kill his mother.

The woman told police Hill arrived at her residence and they began conversing while she walked toward the back bedroom. The suspect followed her, pushed her against the wall and strangled her, according to court records.

The victim told authorities Hill was only an acquaintance and believed she owed him money.

The child witness told officials the suspect began yelling he was going to “kidnap and kill her.”

Hill claimed he only argued with the woman and nothing physical occurred, according to court documents.

Hill is being charged with aggravated battery with strangulation and criminal trespassing to a residence while the person is present.
