Illinois Community Credit Union robbery suspect in custody

DEKALB, Ill. (WTVO) — DeKalb Police arrested Matthew Martin, 43, after a short standoff for allegedly robbing the Illinois Community Credit Union.

On July 31, around 8:21 a.m., police arrived at the credit union located at 1500 Barber Greene Road for reports of an armed robbery. The suspect forced his way into the bank and ordered employees to open the safe, according to a press release.

The man fled with $50,000 in a duffle bag, according to authorities.

After investigations, officials went to the 11200 block of South King Drive in Chicago to arrest Martin on September 27, around 6 a.m. After a brief standoff, Martin was taken into custody and taken to DeKalb Police Department for processing.

Martin is charged with armed robbery, armed habitual criminal and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.
