Rockford man accused of slashing victim with samurai sword

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Zechariah Fulrath, 25, for allegedly slashing a man in the right arm with a samurai sword.

On October 3rd, around 8 a.m., officers were called to the 3100 block of 15th Street for reports of an aggravated domestic battery with a weapon. The victim told police the incident happened in the 3000 block of Horton Street before being transferred to Swedish American Hospital.

Authorities went to the residence on Horton Street to find a pool of blood in the living room and Fulrath lying face down with his hands on his head, according to court records.

Officials said they found a samurai sword near the blood in the living room.

Later, the police spoke to the victim who said the two had been arguing when Fulrath grabbed the sword and sliced his right arm.

The victim was transported to UW Madison for surgery due to his condition.

Fulrath is being charged with aggravated battery while using a deadly weapon, domestic battery causing bodily harm and aggravated domestic battery.
