2nd suspect in February attempted murder in custody

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Brett Hall, 18, for his alleged involvement in a February shooting.

Hall and Eccles are both accused of being involved in an armed robbery that resulted in a victim being shot in the face by a semi-automatic shotgun.

Police arrested Jeffrey Eccles, 18, for attempted murder in August.

On February 9th, around 8:25 p.m., officials were dispatched to the Swedish American Hospital for a shooting victim. The victim told authorities on February 12th the incident happened when he thought he was meeting up with two males to smoke weed.

When he met with the suspects, they both demanded he get out of the vehicle and he thought they were trying to rob him, according to court documents. A passenger used her taser on Eccles when he reached into the car, the victim told police.

Both suspects started shooting at him, one with a semi-automatic shotgun, and the victim sustained wounds to the face, the arm and the chest, causing his lung to collapse, according to court records. The victim then drove off, police said.
