Rockford house engulfed in flames leaves 2 pets fatally injured, 3 people displaced

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Fire responded to a residential fire that caused two pets to die on Saturday.

Around 4:30 p.m., firefighters went to the 1700 block of Eastmoreland Avenue to find a home in a blaze with heavy smoke in the air. The residents all made it out but there were still several pets in the house.

The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes.

The three residents were displaced and two pets were found deceased due to the fire. The fire spread to all levels of the house and caused an estimated $100,000 in damages.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
