OGLE COUNTY, Ill. (WTVO) — An 18-year-old man from Byron was injured after sending his car 63 yards off a roadway and rolling over several times in what police said was an alcohol-related crash on Monday morning.
According to the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the intersection of Lowell Park Road and Oregon Trail Road around 3:38 a.m.
Police said a black Hyundai Elantra driven by Jackson Bartelt was traveling north on Lowell Park Road and went off the road at a curve, hitting an embankment and flipping over several times before coming to rest north of the intersection, in a field.
Authorities said the vehicle was heavily damaged in the crash. Jackson was taken to KSB Hospital for what was described as non-life-threatening injuries.
He was later cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
He was given a notice to appear at a future court date, police said.
