Dry weather impacts on Rockford snow park

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – While the Rockford region is expecting snow overnight into Sunday, Alpine Hills Adventure Park already has plenty of snow on the ground.

Since the start of December, the Rockford area has recorded less than five inches of snow. That is nearly nine inches below where we should be at for this time of year. But Alpine Hills makes the most of it.

Sledders, skiers, and snowboarders still fill the high grounds at the snow park, even with this year’s lack of snowfall.

“It’s been no snow lately and were the only place in the area with snow, so people are just super excited to even be out here,” says Bailey Beard, the Alpine Hills Snow Park manager. “Just to be able to play around with it, throw a couple snowballs here and there, and yeah have some sledding and some tubing.”…
