Residents jump from second floor to escape early morning house fire in Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Ten people are displaced Monday after an early morning fire on Rockford’s southeast side.

Around 3:15 a.m. March 17, the Rockford Fire Department was called to the 1700 block of South Fourth Street for a fire with multiple people trapped on the second floor.

Upon arriving, firefighters noticed flames coming from the rear porch area of the building, blocking the exit from the second floor…
