OSF Saint Anthony addresses how it deals with overcrowded emergency rooms

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – One Rockford hospital is seeing its emergency department become overcrowded with patients more often than usual – and it says this problem is not unique to the area.

An Emergency Department Clinical Nurse Manager at OSF Saint Anthony Hospital said the longer wait times are because of boarding. This is when a patient is cared for in an emergency and waits for inpatient beds to become available, both of which are full.
