Paducah, KY – A life-threatening weather event is unfolding in the Quad State region, with a cold front expected to bring severe thunderstorms and significant rainfall from Wednesday afternoon through Saturday. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a warning for up to 12 inches of rain in some areas, including parts of western Kentucky, southern Missouri, and southern Illinois. This extreme rainfall could lead to widespread flash flooding and river flooding, creating dangerous conditions through the weekend.

According to NWS Paducah, the cold front triggering the storms will stall over the region, causing heavy rain to persist.
