Winnebago Park District closes public restrooms due to ongoing vandalism

WINNEBAGO, Ill. (WTVO) — The Winnebago Park District announced Monday that public restrooms will remain locked due to ongoing vandalism.

“We regret that the actions of a few have led to this closure, but the park does not have the resources to continuously clean up intentional messes and repair severe damage,” the park district said in a statement.

“Recent incidents — such as toilets being pulled from the floor and the porcelain smashed, soiled clothing and hygiene products being left on the floors, and trash being dumped into urinals — have made this step necessary,” the district continued…
