ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A tip about someone driving recklessly leads to the arrest of a man on multiple traffic violations, including driving under the influence of drugs.
Christopher Gowin, 43, of Rockford, is charged with reckless driving, driving under the influence of drugs, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and a FOID violation.
Around 8 p.m. April 29, Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies reported they were called to the area of Owen Center Road and Riverside Boulevard for a reckless driver.
The caller said she saw a red pickup truck pull up next to her at a red light at the intersection of Latham Road and Main Street. She said the pickup nearly side-swiped her vehicle, before backing up and getting behind her. When the light turned green, she said the truck swerved all over the road, crossed the center line and went off the road. The truck also went into oncoming traffic and nearly hit other vehicles. When the truck came up to the red light at Owen Center Road and Riverside Boulevard, the caller claimed the driver fell asleep at the wheel…
