Rockford police target distracted drivers, issuing 395 citations in April

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — During a special distracted driving campaign in April, Rockford police said they handed out 200 citations for hands-free law violations, and an additional 24 for speeding.

The effort was part of the Distracted Driving Additional Enforcement Campaign, which is financed by federal traffic safety funds provided through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
