ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – As the world waits to see who the next leader of the Catholic Church will be, more than 130 cardinals prepare for Wednesday’s vote.
133 cardinals and two alternates under the age of 80 are eligible to vote in what appears to be the most geographically diverse conclave in history.
A two-thirds vote is needed to be elected pope; at least 89 votes. While the decision takes place, all electors will be shut off from the outside world to avoid any persuasion.
