Beloit man to go to trial over stabbing of Janesville man

BELOIT — A 37-year-old Beloit man who is awaiting trial on charges of beating an elderly man in January will also have a trial on charges of stabbing a Janesville man.

Sammy Bunker appeared in Rock County Circuit Court on Monday on two felony counts of first degree reckless endangerment, one count of felony aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon and felony bail jumping along with a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge. If convicted of the reckless endangerment charges, Bunker could face a sentence of up to 17 years in prison.

Bunker, who remains in custody on a $20,000 cash bond, waived his right to a preliminary hearing and Rock County Judge Karl Hanson found there was enough evidence to bind Bunker over for trial. Bunker refused to enter a plea when asked and the court entered a not guilty plea on his behalf…
