BELOIT — They still call it the Beloit Daily News Invitational track meet for tradition sake, but truth be told, the newspaper hasn’t been an actual sponsor now for several years.
Since I was there at the start, covering the very first meet back in 1979, I’ll continue to appreciate Beloit Turner continuing to refer to it as “the BDN,” but if the powers that be want to rename it someday, I’m fine with that, too.
While the meet has had some tremendous finishes from some superb athletes, that very first meet is still tops in my book…
