Ava Morris’ arm and bat lead Belvidere North to an impressive win at Hononegah

ROCKTON, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — A sophomore took over a battle of the NIC-10’s top two softball teams Wednesday afternoon. Belvidere North’s Ava Morris pitched seven scoreless innings, and she hit a two-run homerun leading the Blue Thunder to a 6-0 win over Hononegah. Morris allowed six hits, and she struck out eight batters. Miley Dobbs and Isabelle Schadle each had a pair of hits for North. Schadle had an RBI single in the third inning, and Paige Johnson also had an RBI single staking North to an early lead. Belvidere North improved its NIC-10 record to 10-1 strengthening its hold on first place. Hononegah’s NIC-10 record now is 7-2. For highlights, watch the media player above.
