Rockford airport gets $1.5M for upgrades

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – The Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) will get more than $1.5 million to make improvements.

Four airports in Illinois will get a chunk of federal funding through the Federal Aviation Administration, totaling $4,820,837.

  • Flora Municipal Airport (Flora, IL): $451,142
  • Vermilion Regional Airport (Danville, IL): $304,000
  • Chicago Executive Airport (Wheeling, IL): $2,530,945
  • Rockford International Airport (Rockford, IL): $1,534,750

What exact improvements or upgrades will be made at RFD is unknown, but Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) says they will “enhance the travel experience for passengers and promote economic growth.”…
