Quick work by Rockford Fire crews keep Sunday afternoon porch fire from spreading to rest of the home

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Quick work by Rockford fire crews helps save a family home from burning down on Mother’s Day. Investigators say the fire started around 4:30 p.m. Sunday at a home in the 600-block of Prairie Street. The fire started on the porch but crews were able to put it out in five minutes.. Thankfully no one was hurt, but there was an estimated ten thousand dollars in damages. Investigators are still working to determine a cause.
