Another summer, another two-day event built around Northern Illinois’ undying love of bratwurst, and another chance to help a terrific local organization that has given over $2.5 million to local non-profits and scholarships. It’s what we do around here.
Years ago, a friend from out of town visiting Rockford during Alpine Kiwanis Brat Days asked me this question: “So, Rockford’s idea of a good time is hanging around a parking lot and eating bratwursts during the heat of the summer? Really?”
Yes, I pointed out, that really is our idea of a good time, it has been for over half a century, and it shows no signs of slowing down at all.
