ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – To kick off our Friday, a system of showers and thunderstorms are making their way toward that stateline thanks to a strong low level jet. These storms will likely outrun the jet, causing them to slowly weaken and decay as they are reaching the stateline. The timing on these will likely be around 9 to 10 a.m. and continue through lunch time. Because these storms are out running the low level jet and the better moisture/ instability I think they will likely be decaying as they reach the region. That being said, maybe one or two could produce some hail or strong winds but I think our chances are rather low.
