Radio operators connect globally at RARA Field Day in Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Radio operators from around the nation came to Rockford for a weekend of communication and connection.

The Rockford Amateur Radio Association (RARA) hosted its annual two-day Field Day event consisting of developing radio skills. Veterans and beginners showed up to learn all about ways to connect with people around the world.

“I’m not sure the furthest contact, but we were hitting Europe regularly yesterday and I believe Hawaii was one of the stations that we had,” RARA Vice President Matt Marshall said. “We’re able to really get a far reach as well as right across the border.”…
