Belvidere, IL – A pedestrian was killed Saturday morning in Boone County after being hit by a semi-truck on US Route 20 near Shattuck Road.
According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 9:55 a.m. when a 2002 Freightliner traveling eastbound on US Rt. 20 struck an unidentified man. Emergency responders, including the Boone County District 2 Fire Department, pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The driver of the semi remained on site and is cooperating with authorities.
Investigators described the victim as a white male, estimated to be between 40 and 50 years old, standing 6 feet to 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing between 225 and 250 pounds.
