Belvidere man gets 15 years for high-speed crash with drugs and gun

MCHENRY COUNTY, Ill. (WTVO) — A Belvidere man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after large quantities of drugs and a gun were found in his car after a high-speed crash in McHenry County.

According to the McHenry County State’s Attorney, on June 21st, 2024, police officers with the Lake in the Hills Police Department spotted a car speeding “well above the posted limit” and followed it until the driver crashed into multiple other cars.

The driver of the car, later identified as 26-year-old Victor Serrano, of Belvidere, got out and ran. He was chased down and apprehended, police said. Officers were able to recover a gun along his flight path and later uncovered large quantities of cannabis and cocaine in his vehicle…
