Rockford man faces 25 years for armed robbery at U.S. post office

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A Rockford man faces up to 25 years in prison after being implicated in a robbery at a U.S. Post Office in May.

According to Rockford Police, around 3:02 p.m. on May 27th, 2025, Anthony Johnson, 58, reportedly walked into the United States Post Office at 1140 Broadway, carrying a handgun, and demanded cash from the clerk.

After taking the cash, Johnson fled, but was identified by Rockford Police Detectives and U.S. Postal Inspectors…
