Accused dognapper arrested on battery charges in Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Winnebago County Deputies arrested William Crowe, 39, for allegedly prying open a door and attacking a man in his apartment.

Officers were called to the 3000 block of Prairie Road for reports of a man breaking into a residence. The victim told authorities he confronted Crowe at his back door when he heard him trying to break in with a crowbar.

The suspect punched the man three times in the face and then took a dog inside the apartment, court documents show. He had visible injuries, deputies reported.
