Things are tough all over. So much so, a long-time arcade that used to brand itself with the currency denomination of a nickel straight up bypassed the dime and went straight to the quarter.

To me, that’s probably just a precursor, and why wait? Just go for the dollar. What was called Nickelworld for over 30 years in the Rockford area is no longer. No, they aren’t out of business; they have been rebranded as QuarterWorld, according to MyStateline.com.

I think they might be going by QuarterArcade because the former NickelWorld website redirects you to QuarterArcade, referring to themselves as a “Family Amusement Center that offers over 100 games for the whole family to play that are either FREE or 1+ nickel per play.”

I am unsure if they have yet to update their mantra to focus on the new quarter aspect of the business, but it doesn’t seem like much has changed beyond the price increase and name change.
