MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Families in the Midwest who rely on a sensory-friendly science camp for neurodivergent children are now facing an uncertain future, after federal funding that helped make the program possible was suddenly cut.
At Henry Vilas Zoo on Saturday, a group of campers engaged with animals, built solar ovens, and explored scientific tools in a space designed specifically for them — part of a program many say is irreplaceable. But without renewed funding, organizers say the camp may not return next year.
