ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — What a great job Jimmy Goodman and the Patriots Boxing Club does training young boxers in downtown Rockford. It was all on display Saturday evening.The fourth annual Rockford Boxing Classic was held outdoors at the City Market Pavilion venue. As usual, the event was well attended, and as usual fighters from Patriots Boxing Club, in the red corner, cleaned up.Fighters from the club stepped into the ring for nine different fights, and all nine of them came out winners. My’Aire King, Brendan Murphy, Maria Wampfler, Kaleb Chambers, Romeo Moralez, Sam Ryall, Brian Javier, Gus Wampfler and Julian Lugo were those nine champions.Lugo, a graduate of Harlem High School who earlier this year won his third straight Chicago Golden Gloves Championship, was in the main event.
